infoAbout Vashon Tool Library
The Vashon Tool Library is a community tool library at the southeast corner of the O2 building, next to O-Space off SW 188th Street, at 18870 103rd Ave SW on Vashon Island, Washington. It is a program of the Vashon MakerSpace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. In its own words: "The Vashon Tool Library is entirely volunteer run and supported by donations and grant funding. We are a sharing resource of the community, supported by your time, energy, and money."
History
The idea was sparked around 2010 through Transition Vashon meetings, and a 2014 King County Community Service Area grant paid for the first tools, a space and a website. The library opened in late 2015. It now has over 500 members, runs classes and workshops, and supports the Vashon Fixit repair cafes.

Tools are borrowed. These you own.
Safety gear, consumables, and basics that Vashon Tool Library doesn't lend — buy them once and finish the job. Every item below ships from Amazon.
Tool libraries lend the tools — but you bring your own PPE. These are the basics worth keeping on a shelf.
ANSI-Rated Safety Glasses
Anti-fog, scratch-resistant. The pair you'll actually wear.
Work Gloves (Cut-Resistant)
Level-5 cut resistance handles utility blades and rough lumber.

Sandpaper Variety Pack
60 to 400 grit covers most rough-to-finish work.
Drill Bit Set (Titanium)
Goes through wood, plastic, and most metals. Lasts longer than HSS.

Wood Screws Variety Box

Magnetic hook, standout reach. The one tool you'll grab daily.
Combination Screwdriver Set
Magnetic tips. Phillips + flathead in the sizes you'll actually use.
